As per the guidelines outlined in Publication 1179 of the Internal Revenue Service, the recipient is required to provide consent to exclusively receive their form(s) electronically. If the recipient does not consent to receive the statement electronically, a paper copy should be provided.
How it works:
- Once online access is enabled, your recipient will receive an email with a secure link to the Online Access Portal.
- Upon logging in, your recipient will be prompted to e-sign to provide consent to receive a digital copy of their forms.
- After providing consent, your recipient must verify their identity by entering the last four digits of their TIN. Only then will they be able to access and download copies of their forms.
What if my recipient didn’t provide consent?
If your recipient hasn’t provided consent to receive form copies electronically, you have the option to distribute the copies via our Postal Mail service. Click here to learn more about enabling postal mailing service.
