How to file a tax form with TaxBandits?

Filing tax forms with TaxBandits is simple, whether you're submitting a single return or hundreds at once. Just follow the steps below to e-file your forms efficiently.

Step 1: Sign in to your TaxBandits account. Click ‘Start New Form’

Step 2: Select the tax form you’re required to file.

We’ve chosen ‘Form 1099-NEC' for this walkthrough. You can also file a 94x form or file an ACA form by selecting the appropriate option from the list.

Step 3: We support e-filing for both the current and previous tax years. Select the tax year for which you need to file the form.

Step 4: Select how you’d like to enter your data. For 1099 forms, TaxBandits offers three convenient options:

  1. Manual Entry - Choose this option if you would like to complete the form by manually entering the data in the respective fields.

  2. Bulk Import - This is recommended when filing a high volume of 1099 Forms. We offer a wide range of bulk import options to choose from. See how they work

  3. Import from Accounting Software - TaxBandits allows you to import the vendor details and payment history from various popular Accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, FreshBooks, and Zoho Books to file Form 1099 returns.

Here, we have chosen 'Manual Entry.'

Step 5: Add the Payer and Recipient details. If you’ve already saved payer information, you can select it from the Address Book.

Note: If you have already added the payer details, click 'Select Payer from Address Book.'

Step 6: Enter the required information in the respective fields and click 'Save and Continue.'

Step 7: You can review the summary of forms that are ready for federal filing.

You have the option to export the draft versions of the form as either PDF or CSV files. If errors are found, make the necessary changes in the CSV file and upload it back to our system using the bulk import option.

Step 8:  Review your state filing requirements based on the information provided.

Enable or disable state filings as needed and follow the on-screen instructions to complete state-specific filings.

Step 9: Proceed to 'Form Distribution'. Select the type of form you want to be distributed, and continue. TaxBandits provides you with four options to send recipient copies:

  • Postal Mailing - We will print and deliver copies of the form to the recipients via postal mail.

  • BanditShare (Online Access) - The recipients will be granted access to a secure online portal to view and download their form copies.

  • Advanced Distribution - Customize how many recipients receive postal mail or online access based on your needs.

If you prefer to manage the form distribution on your own, choose 'I will print and distribute myself' and proceed further.

Step 10: Click ‘Continue to Review Form’ and on the review form page, you’ll have the following options:

  • Errors: Errors refer to critical issues found in your forms that must be resolved before transmission. These errors often indicate discrepancies that could lead to potential audit issues with the IRS, SSA, or other relevant government agencies, if not addressed. Learn More

  • Warnings: Warnings highlight potential issues in your forms that won’t prevent you from filing, but may lead to rejections or compliance issues if not addressed. If a warning doesn’t apply to your situation, you can choose to skip it and proceed. Learn More

  • Recommendations: Recommendations are intended to enhance the accuracy, delivery, and compliance of your filings. While these items are optional and won’t affect your ability to transmit, addressing them is strongly encouraged for a more complete and accurate filing experience. Learn More

Step 11: On the Filing Summary page, you can either transmit the forms immediately or schedule them for a later date. If you schedule your forms, you’ll have the option to edit the information until the scheduled date.

Step 12: Proceed to payment and transmit the form. After transmission, track the status of your return in the 1099/W-2 dashboard.
