What does 'Warnings' mean in the Review tab?
Warnings highlight potential issues in your forms that won’t prevent you from filing, but may lead to rejections or compliance issues if not addressed. These alerts are meant to help you catch and clean up inconsistencies before transmission.
If a warning doesn’t apply to your situation, you can choose to skip it and proceed. However, it’s strongly recommended to review and resolve warnings to maintain data accuracy and reduce the risk of post-filing complications
Common warnings
- Duplicate forms: Forms with the same recipient TIN, form type, and amount are flagged as potential duplicates. These may result from repeated entries for the same individual or business. Learn more
- Duplicate files: Uploaded files that contain the same recipient TIN, form type, and number of records are flagged. This often suggests that the same file was imported more than once. Learn more
- Duplicate batches (for Sage users): Batches containing matching TINs, form types, and record counts are identified as duplicates. This typically occurs when the same batch is pushed multiple times from Sage. Learn more
- Missing state information: Some forms are missing required state fields, which may result in non-compliance with the corresponding state reporting requirements. Learn more
- Incomplete forms: Some of the forms remain incomplete or are missing the required fields.
Action recommended
To resolve warnings:
- Review and update the information: Adjust any flagged entries to remove duplicates, add state information, or fill in missing details.
OR
- Proceed with filing: If the entries are correct as-is, you may continue. Warnings are for your awareness and won’t prevent form transmission.
