I don't have state withholdings. Do I need to file 1099-NEC with the state?

Before answering this question, you should know which states require the filing of Form 1099-NEC. In Total, 39 states require the filing of Form 1099-NEC based on the withholding information.
States mandate the filing of 1099-NEC based on any one of the following conditions:
- Only if there was a state withholding.
- Even if there was no state withholding.
Refer to the section below to know whether you need to file 1099-NEC with states or not.
States that require Form 1099-NEC filing only if there was a state withholding:
