Form 1099 filing requirements for each state may vary based on their specific regulations. To ensure compliance, it is recommended that you review the specific requirements for each state before you file Form 1099 with the state agency.
If your state mandates the filing of 1099 Forms, it is important to ensure that you have the following information:
1. For Form 1099, including (1099-NEC, 1099-MISC, 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-B, 1099-K, 1099-G)
- State Tax Withheld
- Payer’s state number
- State income
2. For Form 1099-R
- State tax withheld
- Local income taxes withheld
- State/Payer’s state number
- State gross 1099 distribution amount for which state taxes were withheld
- Local gross 1099 distribution amount for which local taxes were withheld
3. For Form W-2G
- State tax withheld
- Local income taxes withheld
- State/Payer’s state number
- State winnings
- Local winnings
When you have the above information ready, start to enter them on the required 1099 Forms state information fields. If you need to file for multiple states, click "Add New State" and continue e-filing the 1099 forms with the appropriate state agency using Taxbandits.
