How to download and print 1099/W-2 forms on Safari (Mac)?

If you’re using the Safari browser on a Mac and having trouble downloading or printing your 1099 or W-2 forms, follow the steps below. Safari’s default settings may block pop-ups or automatically unzip downloaded files, which can prevent your forms from opening correctly.

1. Allow pop-ups from the website

Safari blocks pop-ups by default, but our download and print actions open files in a new window. To enable pop-ups for our application:

1. Open the Safari app on your Mac.
2. Log in to your TaxBandits account and navigate to the Print Forms section from the main menu.
3. In the menu bar, click Safari > Settings.
4. Select the Websites tab.
5. In the sidebar, scroll to the bottom and click Pop-up Windows.
6. Find our website in the list and open the drop-down menu next to it.
7. Choose Allow.

Tip: You only need to do this once. Safari will remember this setting for future downloads.
 

2. Download your 1099/W-2 forms

1. After pop-ups are allowed, go back to the Print Forms section in our application.
2. Click Download or Print PDF next to the form you want.
3. A pop-up window will appear, and Safari will begin downloading the file automatically.
4. By default, the file will be saved to your Downloads folder unless you’ve chosen another location in Safari > Settings > General.

If the download doesn’t start, make sure no other Safari extensions or pop-up blockers are active.
 

3. Locate your downloaded file

1. Open the Finder app.
2. Select Downloads from the sidebar.
3. Look for your file.
    

4. Unzip the downloaded file

If you downloaded multiple forms, they’ll be bundled in a ZIP file. Follow these steps to extract them:

1. Double-click the ZIP file.
2. Safari will automatically create a new folder in the same location with the extracted PDFs.
3. Open the folder to view individual 1099 or W-2 forms.

Note: If Safari is automatically opening ZIP files, you can manage this in Safari > Settings > General, and uncheck “Open safe files after downloading.” This keeps your downloads zipped until you’re ready to open them.
 

5. Open and print your forms

1. Double-click the PDF file to open it in Preview (the default Mac PDF viewer).
2. To print, click File > Print, or press Command (?) + P.

Adjust any print settings (such as layout or paper size), then click Print.
