Get Answers Support Tax Filings & Payments Account Info (Tax Filing) Review How does the TIN Matching process work in TaxBandits? Last modified 4/25/2025 6:59:56 AM EST TaxBandits simplifies TIN Matching by helping you identify and resolve mismatches in recipient TIN and name combinations before you file. This proactive check reduces the risk of IRS rejections and helps ensure your forms are accepted without delays. How it works: Review your recipients: While preparing your 1099 forms, TaxBandits automatically identifies recipients whose TIN and name combinations haven’t been validated yet in the Review tab. Initiate TIN Matching: Click Verify TIN for each flagged recipient. This sends a verification request to the IRS system via TaxBandits. IRS response time: Most TIN Matching results return within 2–4 hours, depending on IRS processing time. In some cases, it may take slightly longer during peak hours. Check verification status: Once the request is processed, you’ll see one of the following statuses: Success – The TIN and name match IRS records. You're all set. Failed – The combination didn’t match. Review and correct the recipient's details. In Progress – The request is still pending. You can continue reviewing other forms in the meantime. Take action if needed: Fix any TIN errors for the recipients before you proceed to file 1099/W-2 for them. Learn more Was this helpful?
