My postal mailing status says 'Delivery Attempt Failed.' What does this mean?

If the initial mailing of 1099/W-2 forms encounters an issue due to unexpected circumstances, the 'Delivery Attempt Failed' status indicates that the postal carrier was unable to deliver the mail to the recipient at the given address.
