My W-2s were rejected by state agency. Can I retransmit my forms in TaxBandits?

If your forms were rejected because of duplicate filing, i.e., the state agency has already received a W-2 submission for the individual. Therefore, the form has been rejected as a duplicate filing. In such cases, you are not required to retransmit the form.

If the state rejected your form for the following reasons, you can retransmit the W-2 forms in TaxBandits.

• State account number rejection
• Virginia State Withholding Rejection

Steps to view and retransmit the rejected W2s:

Step 1: Sign in to your TaxBandits account.

Step 2: Navigate to 1099/W-2 from the Dashboard.

Step 3: Select Tax Year and Business. 

Step 4: Click 'Federal/State Rejection Forms' -> ‘State Rejections’ to view the list of rejected forms.

Step 5: Click the 'Fix' button in the 'Action column next to the payer you wish to retransmit.

Step 6: Fix the errors followed by the instructions and click the ‘Fix and Retransmit’ button

Once you have fixed the errors, you can review the information and retransmit your W2s.

Note: For certain states, forms cannot be retransmitted to the state agency. Instead, you must download the PDF and submit it directly to the respective agency

Note: Please contact the state agency if your W-2s were rejected for any other reason.
