How to make corrections to my W-2?

TaxBandits supports W-2 corrections for forms originally filed with us, filed elsewhere, or on paper filing. Once the SSA accepts your form, you can correct the following information on Form W-2C:

Employee Name & SSN

If you need to correct an employee's name or SSN, click here for detailed instructions.

Federal and State Amounts

If you have errors in the federal and state amounts on previously filed W-2s, you need to file Form W-2C. Enter the correct amounts, and we will auto-populate the previously reported details.

How to void a W-2?

You can void previously filed returns through TaxBandits. When you void a return, we will mark all amount fields as zero, and the SSA will disregard the previous return.

How to correct Employer details?

To correct the employer's TIN, address, employment code, and tax year, you may need to contact the SSA. The Employer Services Liaison Officers (ESLOs) can assist with all processes and applications. For more details, visit SSA Employer Services.

With TaxBandits, you can correct your state information; however, the correction form will only be submitted to the federal agency. To submit your corrections to the state, you’ll need to download the correction form as a PDF and submit it to the state yourself.
