TIN Matching typically fails when the recipient name and TIN combination provided don’t match IRS records. If you encounter a TIN match failure due to a mismatch between the recipient's name and TIN, follow the steps below to correct it.

  • Sign in to your TaxBandits account.

  • From the home dashboard, click TIN Matching and choose businesses with the TIN Matching tab. You will then see a list of TIN-matching opted businesses and their TIN Matching status.

  • Click Failed TIN against the business. The TIN failed recipients associated with the business will be displayed.

  • Click "Correct TIN" next to the recipient whose TIN status is failed.

  • You will be prompted to enter the correct Name and TIN information for the recipient in the provided boxes. After entering the correct information, click the "Update TIN Information" button.

Your correction request for TIN matching for the recipient will be submitted successfully. Once the correction is submitted, the updated information will be used for TIN matching, and this should help resolve the TIN match failure issue.
