Yes, Form 1099-NEC has state filing. In the form, Box 5-7 allows the payers to report payments for up to two states. When you fill state information boxes, be sure that the dashed line separates each state.
Box 5 - Fill the state income tax amount withheld from the payment.
Box 6 - Enter the abbreviated state name and payer's state identification number.
Box 7 - Enter the state payment amount or state income.
Send Copy 1 to your state's tax department if they need the paper copy of this form. Then, send the Copy 2 to the recipient for filing their state income tax return.
Note: If you have not withheld state income tax, you can leave the boxes empty.
