Missouri - W2 State Filing Requirements

The state requires the filing of Form W-2 if wages were paid to Missouri employees or if income tax was withheld during the year. 

Missouri State ID Format:

• 8 digits (e.g., 99999999)

Note: The state also accepts your federal EIN as a state ID
 

Filing Criteria and Requirements

1: If there is any Missouri state tax withheld

• Filing Method: Direct State Filing

  • You must file a W-2 directly with the state.

• Additional Form Required: Form MO-W3 

  • If you file W2 state forms with TaxBandits, we support Form MO-W3 at no additional cost

• Deadline: February 02. 2026

2: If there is no Missouri state tax withheld

• Filing Method: Direct State Filing

  • You must file a W-2 directly with the state.

• Additional Form Required: Not Required

• Deadline: February 02, 2026
