What is Form 1099-B?

The IRS Form 1099-B is used by a broker or financial institution to report the gross proceeds from the sale or exchange of these securities, as well as the cost basis of the securities and any adjustments made for wash sales.

The form includes information such as the taxpayer's name, address, and Social Security number, as well as the type of security sold or exchanged, the date of the sale or exchange, the proceeds from the sale or exchange, and the cost basis of the security.
