The "Copy Return" feature copies specific information from your prior 941 return to streamline the filing process. This simplifies your 941 filing process and boosts efficiency.

Here are the step-by-step instructions for copying information from a previous quarter's 941 return:

Step 1: Log in to your TaxBandits account.

Step 2: From the dashboard, click 'Form 941' and then click the ‘Copy Previous' button near the ‘Start Filing’ button.

Step 3: The information from the previous quarter, 941 (Q1, 2024), will be displayed. After reviewing all the information, Click ‘Copy my Return’ to autofill your Current Quarter return.

Step 4: If you are a semi-weekly depositor, click ‘Fill Schedule B’ and fill in the information by clicking ‘Copy from previous return’. Then click ‘Save and Continue’ to proceed further.

Step 5: Review the summary of your copied 941 return information from the previous quarter.

Step 6: Once you’ve reviewed all the essential information, follow the next steps to continue filing.
Step 7: E-sign your 941 Form, pay, and transmit your 941 return to the IRS.

Note:

Form 8453-EMP/8879-EMP, used to sign your 941 Form electronically, will not be copied from the previous quarter's return (Q1). Instead, you must sign it new for the current 941 return (Q2).

You can only copy information from the previous quarter's return if it has been transmitted and accepted by the IRS.
