TaxBandits Knowledge Base
Have questions? We've got you covered! Is it possible to edit a 940/941 return in TaxBandits that was just submitted?
Once you transmit the 940/941 to the IRS, you can only view the information summary but you cannot edit them.
If the IRS rejects your return, TaxBandits allows you to make corrections and retransmit the return. However, if your return is Accepted and you still intend to correct the information, you must file a correction form.
Here’s how you can change the information on your 940/941 return:
Form 941
- If the return is REJECTED, TaxBandits allows you to edit and retransmit the return at ZERO cost.
- If the return is ACCEPTED, file the correction Form 941-X (Adjusted Employer’s QUARTERLY Federal Tax Return or Claim for Refund) in TaxBandits.
You can correct both Under-Reported and Over-Reported errors using 941-X. If you’re filing IRS Form 941-X for reporting underreported taxes, you should pay the tax amount while filing it. For overreported taxes, you can claim a refund or credit for the next return.
Form 940
- If the return is REJECTED, TaxBandits allows you to edit and retransmit the return at ZERO cost.
- If the return is ACCEPTED, file Form 940 Amendment (Adjusted Employer's Annual Federal Unemployment (FUTA) Tax Return) in TaxBandits.
