The purpose of Form 8300 is to report cash payments received in excess of $10,000 by a person engaged in a trade or business. The amount received can either be in a single transaction or related transactions. As mandated, the person has to report this cash payment to the IRS and FinCEN (Financial Crime Enforcement Network).
