What are Triggers and Actions in Zapier?

Zapier enables you to build automated workflows called “Zaps”, which connect two or more applications to perform specific actions based on events.

Each Zap consists of two primary components:

Trigger

  • A Trigger is the event that starts the workflow. It occurs in one app and initiates the automation.

  • Example: A new vendor is added in QuickBooks.

Action

  • An Action is what happens after the Trigger occurs. It is performed automatically by Zapier.

  • Example: TaxBandits sends a W-9/W-8 request to the new vendor.

By combining Triggers and Actions, you can automate workflows that synchronize information and improve compliance efficiency without manual effort.
