How do you request an extension for the 8027 form?

To request an extension for Form 8027, you must submit Form 8809, Application for Extension of Time to File Information Returns. You should file Form 8809 with the IRS before the original filing deadline of Form 8027. By submitting Form 8809, the IRS grants an automatic 30-day extension to file Form 8027, and you do not need to provide an explanation for the extension when submitting Form 8809.
