What kind of errors can form validations identify?

Form validations identify all the possible errors when entering the data in the respective fields. Examples of validation errors include:

  • Incorrect EIN or SSN formats: Ensures that the EIN and SSN are entered with the correct number of digits and format.

  • Missing information: Identifies any required fields that are left empty or incomplete.

  • Fields that don't meet specific conditions:
For example, in forms like Form 1099-NEC, certain errors can occur

    • If fields such as Nonemployee compensation (Box 1) and Federal income tax withheld (Box 4) are left blank, errors will appear.

    • Federal income tax withheld (Box 4) should not be greater than Nonemployee compensation (Box 1).

    • If the values in these fields are the same or incorrect, validation errors will occur.
