How to Locate and Unzip Downloaded 1099/W-2 Form Copies on Different Browsers

Locating and unzipping your downloaded 1099 or W-2 forms may vary depending on the browser and device you’re using. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

1. Safari (Mac)

Steps to Find Downloads:

  1. Access Downloads:
    • Click the download icon (downward arrow) in the top-right corner of the browser.
  2. Locate Your File:
    • Find your ZIP file in the list of recent downloads.
  3. Open the File Location:
    • Double-click the file to open it, or right-click and choose "Show in Finder" to locate it in your system.
  4. Unzip the download Form copies in Ipad/Iphone

Method 1:

  • Launch the Files app on your iPhone or iPad.
  • Find the download form copies that you want to uncompress.
  •  Press and hold on the zip file, then select Uncompress from the contextual menu.

The uncompressed files will appear in the same location as the zip file.

Method 2:
You can use third-party apps to unzip your form copies easily. Download any of the following apps from your App Store:

  • Documents by Readdle
  • iZip
  • WinZip

2. Google Chrome

Steps to Find Downloads:

  1. Access Downloads:
    • Click the three-dot menu (top-right corner).
    • Select "Downloads" from the menu.
       
  2. Search for Your File:
    • A list of recent downloads will appear.
    • Use the search bar to locate your ZIP folder by name.
       
  3. Open the File Location:
    • Click "Show in folder" next to your downloaded file.

 

3. Mozilla Firefox

Steps to Find Downloads:

  1. Access Downloads:
    • Click the download icon (downward arrow) in the toolbar.
  2. Locate Your File:
    • Find your ZIP file in the dropdown list of recent downloads.
  3. Open the File Location:
    • Right-click on the file and select "Open Containing Folder" or click the folder icon next to it.
       

4. Microsoft Edge

Steps to Find Downloads:

  1. Access Downloads:
    • Click the three-dot menu (top-right corner).
    • Choose "Downloads" from the menu.
  2. Locate Your File:
    • Recent downloads will be listed.
    • Use the search bar or scroll to find the ZIP file.
  3. Open the File Location:
    • Click "Open file location" beneath the file name.

 

5. Unzipping Form Copies on Windows and Android 

  • For Windows: Use tools like WinZip, WinRAR, or 7-Zip to extract the form copies.
  • For Android: Open your File Manager, locate the .zip file, and select the Extract option to unzip it.


Tips for All Browsers:

  • By default, downloaded files are saved in the Downloads folder on your computer.
  • You can manually navigate to this folder if you're unable to find your file using the browser's interface.
