What is an Authoritative transmittal?

Form 1094-C is the Transmittal of Employer-Provided Health Insurance Offer, and Coverage Information Returns, and Form 1094-B is the Transmittal of Health Coverage Information Returns. These forms act as cover pages, summarizing the coverage information in Forms 1095-C and Forms 1095-B.

Keep in mind that you cannot submit 1094-C alone. When e-filing Form 1095-Cs, one Form 1094 must be marked as the authoritative transmittal.
