Have questions? We've got you covered! How do I enter the Recipient/Employee address on a W-2 tax form in TaxBandits?
When you file a tax form for your employees/recipients, providing the correct address is critical. Though the IRS/SSA accepts returns with invalid addresses, there are restrictions on the maximum size and characters you use. Also, when you choose TaxBandits Postal Mail services, a correct postal address ensures the form reaches the recipient/employee on time.
The W-2s & 1099s in TaxBandits have two fields for the recipient/employee address: Address Line 1 and Address Line 2.
Follow these tips when you fill in the Address Line 1 and Address Line 2 fields:
- MAX Length - The maximum character limit is 20 each for these fields.
- Characters permissible - Only the following characters are allowed:
- Alphabets
- Numbers
- Special Characters - Forward slash (/), Comma (,), Backward slash (\), and hyphen (-). No other special characters are permitted.
- Use Abbreviations
You may abbreviate a few words in the address to shorten the length. TaxBandits provides the option to validate the address using USPS (United States Postal Services). For assistance, refer to the USPS suffix abbreviations. For USPS to recognize the abbreviations, use the shortened words listed in the 3rd column.
