Last modified 3/29/2023 8:19:56 AM EST Form 1099-SA is an IRS tax form used by the trustee of the account or the issuer of a health savings account to report to the IRS the total distributions and any earnings on the distributions made from Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), Archer Medical Savings Accounts (MSAs), or Medicare Advantage Medical Savings Accounts (MSAs) during the year. In addition to filing the form with the IRS, the trustee of the account must also provide a copy of Form 1099-SA to the account holder, helping the account holder determine if any of the distributions are taxable or subject to penalties. If the account holder has more than one type of these plans, a separate Form 1099-SA must be completed for each account. To learn more about Form 1099-SA, click here. Was this helpful?
