When is the deadline to File Form W-2G?

The deadline to file Form W-2G depends on whether the form is being filed on paper or electronically.

If filing on paper and mailing to the IRS: the deadline is February 28th of the year following the tax year being reported.

If filing electronically with the IRS: the deadline is March 31st of the year following the tax year being reported and the deadline to distribute recipient copies is January 31st of the year following the tax year being reported.
