No, you cannot e-file Form 941-X. The IRS does not currently support e-filing for Form 941-X. Instead, it requires you to file Form 941-X on paper due to the following reasons.

  • Complexity: Form 941-X is a complex form that requires detailed information about the corrections being made and information from the original Form 941.
  • Verification: The IRS needs to verify the information on the original Form 941 before processing any corrections. This verification process is easier with paper forms than with electronic forms, which can be more difficult to verify due to the possibility of errors or fraud.
  • Signature requirement: The IRS requires that Form 941-X be signed by the employer or an authorized representative. Electronic signatures are not currently accepted for Form 941-X, so the form must be filed on paper.

Therefore, if you need to correct any errors on the previously filed Form 941, file a paper copy of Form 941-X  providing detailed information about the corrections being made for each quarter being corrected.
