If you can't submit form W-2 PR before January 31, 2022, you can ask for a 30-day extension using Form AS 2727, "Request for Extension of Time to File the Withholding Statement (499R-2/W-2PR) and Reconciliation Statement of Income Tax Withheld (499 R-3)," which can be obtained from SURI. All requests for extensions must be made before the deadline for filing.

After January 31, 2022, all extensions submitted will be rejected. This extension can only be filed and submitted electronically. Paper submissions via fax, mail, or other means will not be accepted or considered filed.

After January 1, 2022, the request for extension will be available via SURI and must be submitted through SURI on or before January 31, 2022. Any submissions made after the due date will be subject to penalties if you do not request this extension and receive approval.
