If you reported incorrect information about the recipient on the original 1099/1098, you could file 1099 Correction forms to make the necessary updates. We support corrections only if the original 1099/1098 was filed with TaxBandits. Please note that corrections can only be made after the IRS accepts the original form.
Steps to correct recipient name and TIN in your reported 1099:
Step 1: Sign in to your TaxBandits account.
Step 2: On the dashboard, click 'Start New Form' —> '1099/1098 Corrections.'
Step 3: Click on ‘Select Payer from Address Book’ for the payer for which you want to file corrections.
Step 4: Choose the form from the dropdown, and the list of accepted forms will be displayed. Under the ‘Actions’ column, click on ‘Make Correction’ next to the employee. If you want to void the form, you have the option to select ‘Void.’
Step 5: On the correction form, check the ‘Correct recipient details’ box to edit the recipient's information.
Step 6: Once you select the checkbox, you’ll see three options for the type of recipient information you want to correct. Select ‘Recipient TIN/Name Only’ to change the recipient's name and TIN.
Step 7: Follow the remaining steps to complete the process and correct the 1099 forms.
