How do I mask SSNs in printed W-2 copies?

After you transmit the W-2 forms to the SSA, copies of the forms will be available for download in the Distribution Center. You have the option to download the copies with the masked SSN.

Follow these instructions to mask SSNs on W-2 copies:

• Sign in to your TaxBandits account.
• From the home dashboard, click Distribution Center.

• Use the filter to select the Tax year, Business Name, and Form type as Form W-2. Once selected, click Go. The businesses in your account will be displayed based on the filters you applied.  

• To download transmitted form copies, click Print Forms against the business.

• Select the employees and click Download  Forms.

• You can now download forms with the masked SSN by choosing the tab "Download with Masked TIN". The downloaded copy will have the SSN marked by replacing the five digits of the nine digits with X’s or asterisks. The W-2 copies are available for download as a ZIP file or a consolidated PDF.
