The account number is a unique reference number that can be used to differentiate multiple 1099-NEC Forms filed for the same recipient (for the same tax year).
Let’s say you have filed multiple 1099-NEC Forms for a recipient. Now, you need to file a correction for one of those 1099-NEC Forms. In this case, you can mention the corresponding account number on the correction form to indicate for which 1099-NEC form you are filing a correction.
Note: In TaxBandits, when you leave the Account Number field blank while filling out the 1099-NEC Form, our system will automatically generate a number.
