The state requires the filing of Form W-2 if wages were paid to New Mexico employees or if income tax was withheld during the year.
New Mexico State ID Format:

2 digits and hyphen followed by 6 digits and hyphen followed by 2 digits and hyphen followed by 1 digit (e.g., 99-999999-99-9)

2 digits and hyphen followed by 6 digits and hyphen followed by 3 digits and hyphen followed by 1 digit (e.g., 99-999999-999)
Filing Criteria and Requirements
Criteria 1: Even if there is no New Mexico state tax withheld

Filing Method: Direct State Filing

You must file Form W-2 directly with the state.

Additional Form Required: Not required

Note: If you opt for paper filing, submit Form RPD-41072 with Form W-2
