Applicable To
94X 1099 W-2 ACA W-4

Once you transmit the 940/941 to the IRS, you cannot edit the information.

If the IRS rejects your return, TaxBandits allows you to make changes to the form and retransmit the return. However, if your return is Accepted and you still intend to make corrections to the information, you need to file a correction form.

Here’s how you can change the information on your 940/941 return:

Form 941

  • If the return is REJECTED, TaxBandits allow you to edit and retransmit the return at ZERO cost.
  • If the return is ACCEPTED, file the correction Form 941-X (Adjusted Employer’s QUARTERLY Federal Tax Return or Claim for Refund) in TaxBandits.

You can correct both Under-Reported and Over-Reported errors using 941-X. If you’re filing IRS Form 941-X for reporting underreported taxes, you should pay the tax amount while filing it.  For overreported taxes, you can claim a refund or credit for the next return.
Form 940

  • If the return is REJECTED, TaxBandits allow you to edit and retransmit the return at ZERO cost.
  • If the return is ACCEPTED, you need to file a new Form 940 with amendments. (Do check the box Amended when filing form 940 for corrections)
