The nonrefundable portion of the credit is limited to the employer share of social security tax reported on Form 941, lines 5a and 5b, after that share is first reduced by any credit claimed on Form 8974 for the qualified small business payroll tax credit for increasing research activities, or any credit to be claimed on Form 5884-C for the work opportunity credit for qualified tax-exempt organizations hiring qualified veterans, and/or any credit claimed for the non-refundable portion of the credit for qualified sick and family leave wages.
