How do I void a W2 that was filed?

If you have filed a W2 that shouldn't have been filed, then you need to void that return using the correction form W-2c. You can void a return that was filed with us or through other service providers. 

Here’s how to void a W2 that was filed:

  1. Sign in to TaxBandits, click on Form W-2c under Start New Form.
  2. Select the Tax year and proceed.    

Filed with Other Providers

You need to provide the employer and employee details of the original return that was filed earlier.

Choose the Form

  1. Choose I filed my return with other service providers and click Next.

  2. Enter Employer details or pull up from the address book and click Next.

  3. Enter Employee details or pull up from the address book and click Next.

Make Corrections

  1. In the Federal Correction page, enter originally reported amounts in the Previously Reported column and zeroes in all amount boxes in the Correct Information column and click Next.

  2. In the State Correction page, choose the State and enter State ID in both Previously Reported column and Correct Information column.
  3. Enter originally reported amounts in the Previously Reported column and zeroes in all amount boxes in the Correct Information column and click Next.

Entering zeroes in all amount boxes will void the return. Continue with the flow and review & transmit your correction form W-2c. Once your form is successfully transmitted, a copy of the W-2c can be accessed from the Print Center.

Filed with TaxBandits

If you filed a W2 with us, all you need is to enter zeroes in all amount boxes to void the return. 

Choose the Form

  1. Choose I already filed my return with TaxBandits and select the Employer.
  2. Choose the employees for whom you like to make corrections and click Select & Continue.

  3. View the employer and employee details and click Next.

Make Corrections

  1. In the Federal Correction page, you will see your originally reported amounts are auto-filled in the Previously Reported and Correct Information columns.
  2. Enter zeroes in all of the amount boxes in the Correct Information column and click Next.
  3. In the State Correction page, you will see your originally reported amounts are auto-filled in the Previously Reported and Correct Information columns.

  4. Enter zeros in all of the amount boxes in the Correct Information column and click Next.

Entering zeros in all amount boxes will void the returns. Continue with the flow and review & transmit your correction form, W-2c.

Print Copy

Once your form is successfully transmitted, a copy of the W-2c can be accessed from the Print Center. For step by step instruction on the correction form, click here.
